Getting to Know Tamara Kankowski
Selecting a doula is a personal decision for your family.
We thought it would be fun to take a moment to get to meet Tamara. Not the stuff that is talked about on the biography page, but really get to know some of her quirks, things she likes and some of her guilty pleasures.
What is your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is Red Lobster. I always get the Ultimate Feast and who can say no to cheddar biscuits?!?!?!
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie would have to be Wizard of Oz. Love the colors, music & knowing that "There's No Place Like Home."
What is your favorite vacation destination?
My favorite vacation destination is anywhere a cruise ship takes me!!!
What is your guilty pleasure TV show?
I love watching reality shows. I really don't have a favorite. I've watched Real World, Teen Mom, The Real Housewives, The Bachelor & Big Brother. Just to name a few.
Why did you want to become a doula?
I've always wanted to be part of the labor & birth process. Birth is such an amazing experience and to help other Mama's with their births is a blessing.

How many kids do you have?
We are blessed to have 7 kids, 4 boys & 3 girls. Growing up I wanted 4 boys. I never thought I would have 7 kids. Nor did I think I would have fraternal twin boys.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Again I would go with anything sea food (but no fish - yuck).
Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house?
I would rather mow the lawn....LOL
What makes you laugh the most?
This sounds so mean, but when people fall or trip.
What is your favorite sports team?
New York Giants!!!!!
If you were a super hero what powers would you have?
I would probably go with speed, so I can everything done quick and have more time for fun.
What is your favorite family tradition?
The kids and I making Christmas cookies together. We have a lot of fun together even as we are making a mess and burning some cookies. I hope its a tradition that they continue with their kids.
Who was your first celebrity crush?
It would be a toss up between Michael J. Fox (Family Ties) & Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains).
What movie title best describes your life?
Probably depends on the day. Most days its "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" when it comes to my sanity. When it comes to the kids its a combination of Fast and the Furious, Fight Club and Indiana Jones and The Temple of DOOM!!! :)
